How else could anyone explain the alignment that has taken place in the mango market for Brazilian exporters ???

After being slapped by a ludicrous tariff of 50% on mangoes from Brazil, everyone was projecting an unsustainable mango season and virtually impossible to access the USA market.

Somehow defying all of the naysayers, the impossible happened!!!

The USA market has sustained an 11.00 dollar market. Do, Brazil started shipping and shipping, so much so that Brazil has doubled its exports to USA compared to last season!!  All the while, maintaining a price making the 50% tariff.

How did this happen???

Well, for starters, Mexico ended their exports earlier than normal as volume dropped dramatically due to heavy rains and quality issues for a second year in a row,

Secondly and most important, Ecuador , the main competitor with Brazil in the September to December window has been setback by over 90% of its normal volume, making Brazil the only game in town !!! Allowing Brazil to triumph under Herculean obstacles !!! According to to the National Mango Board data, Ecuador has only shipped 100,000 cartons so far this season compared to one 1️⃣ million cartons last season. !!!

Brazil has taken advantage of this situation, and shipped nearly double the volume to six 6️⃣ million cartons compared to last season!!

As Brazilians love to say:

“ GOD MUST BE A BRAZILIAN !!! “

The specific quote "GOD MUST BE A BRAZILIAN" is a variation of the common Portuguese phrase "Deus é brasileiro" ("God is Brazilian"), which has been a popular saying in Brazil for a long time.

While it is difficult to pin down the very first time Lula used the English variation, he frequently uses and references the "God is Brazilian" sentiment.

One well-known and specific instance where he used a quote to this effect was in a retort following the election of an Argentine Pope, Pope Francis:

Lula (Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva) said: "Well, the pope may be Argentinian, but God is Brazilian."

This quote would have been said sometime after Pope Francis was elected, which occurred in March 2013.
